Burger King: come and go with a kilo of potatoes – economy

The American fast food chain Burger King is launching an operation to support producers. From Tuesday February 2, 2021, each customer will be able to leave with a kilo of potatoes.

Burger King offers a kilo of potatoes to its customers

In its new advertisement published in the Sunday newspaper, Burger King launches a new slogan ” Let’s give the potato back to French producers! “. A word game that goes hand in hand with the operation launched by one of the giants of the fast food sector. As of Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the brand’s customers will leave if they wish, after a purchase excluding delivery, with a kilo of potatoes.

Burger King thus obtained 200 tonnes of potatoes from producers in Hauts-de-France. The advertisement explains the project with humor ” You too, take a good resolution: keep buying potatoes in 2021. Say yes to tartiflettes, raclettes, shepherd’s pie and homemade fries. And mash, make it good this new year “.

The objective of the operation, to support producers

If the advertisement says it with humor, the operation is more than serious. Burger King means by its purchase and distribution of potatoes, support industry players strongly impacted by the Covid-19 health crisis and in particular by the closure of restaurants. Burger King can count on the influx of customers, since since 2019, France has become its second market in the world after the United States.

This is not the first time that Burger King has shown solidarity with sectors heavily affected by the crisis. At the time of the second confinement, in November 2020, the brand’s bags carried a message urging customers to diversify their orders and turn to small restaurateurs in difficulty.
