The Monsieur Cuisine, a Silvercrest food processor sold by Lidl (for which the German distributor is at the center of a legal dispute with Vorwerk, manufacturer of the Thermomix) will soon be back on the shelves. It did not take more for a scam to be created for the occasion. It spreads on Facebook.
Monsieur Cuisine on sale at Lidl from June 3, 2021
The time is ripe for a scam to develop at the expense of Lidl and those who would like to buy Monsieur Cuisine: the German distributor has announced that this product, which is popular when it is offered in its stores , will be back on June 3, 2021. This will be the Monsieur Cuisine Plus model, the “Connect” model being the one concerned by Vorwerk’s complaint.
If Lidl has not announced in which stores the robot will be available, the wait is high. And crooks took advantage: scams and phishing attempts have been reported at the expense of the distributor and victimized by Internet users.
A scam that hides phishing and a subscription
According to The voice of the North, the scam that is spreading on the Internet is, despite everything, crude: a publication announces that Monsieur Cuisine would be offered by Lidl for … 1.95 euro due to a dispute between the distributor and the producer of Monsieur Cuisine, Silvercrest. However, the two are intimately linked, it is not a simple partnership. The price, moreover, is surprising: a reduction of 99%, it’s strange.
But the risk is that Internet users will click anyway… and that can cost them dearly. According to information from 20 minutes, when you click on the link, you arrive on a page that asks for bank details. A phishing scam which would be doubled, moreover, of a hidden subscription to more than 60 euros per month.
