And he didn’t fight off the only shot on his target.
Spartak beat Rubin (2: 0), and in addition to Larsson’s early goal, Rubin’s goalkeeper Nikita Medvedev helped the Muscovites. This is his third game after a three-year break: the previous time before the break, he played in November 2017 in the Champions League, in the RPL in May of the same year, when he played for Rostov against Orenburg (0: 2).
The game on the outs let down: Bakaev hung from the left flank, Medvedev went to knock out with his hand, but waved past. Bakaev’s serve reached Merkulov – the ball flew into the goal from the heel of the not expecting defender.
Merkulov either lost his concentration, or was simply disoriented: when Medvedev missed the ball, the defender was already looking at the opponent, and not following the flight path.
In an ideal world, Yuri Dyupin should play at Rubin’s goal, but the main goalkeeper caught a cold, and Medvedev comes out for the third match in a row (twice in the RPL and one in the Cup). Against Dynamo (Kazan won 1: 0) Nikita was good: on the 85th he pulled out an ideal free kick from Shimanski from almost nine.
Today Nikita also had to resist a nine ball hit. But Larsson hit from close range – the goalkeeper had no chance.
Rubin attacked a lot, while Spartak managed to win 2: 0 with one shot on target – yes, Medvedev ended up with a negative one hundred percent statistics: one shot – one missed.
