Are the ski lifts closed? No problem for the Courchevel alpine resort which is launching a track accessible by car for the February holidays.
A track accessible by car
The government has decided to maintain the closure of ski lifts at ski resorts during the month of February 2021, despite the February holidays and requests from professionals in the sector. To allow holidaymakers to make the most of their mountain holidays, the Courchevel alpine resort has set up a somewhat special ski slope.
No ski lifts? No problem, Courchevel launches a track accessible by car. Two kilometers long, it is a blue run ” signposted and secure »And accessible to beginners. The track was authorized by municipal decree for the duration of the February vacation.
A not very ecological initiative
The aim of the Courchevel initiative is ” to give some slips a little “. The free track, the departure of which is located at the altiport, can be reached in ten minutes by road. However, to avoid the crowds, no shuttle has been set up by the resort and holidaymakers will have to take their car or a taxi from Courchevel 1850 to take advantage of the two-kilometer descent.
If the idea is funny, it is however not very ecological and risk of generating heavy pollution with the multiplication of car journeys between the station and the altiport. In France, the car is responsible for 54% of greenhouse gas emissions. Another controversy that could generate this free track, the cost of the taxi to reach it which can quickly become expensive at altitude.
