According to officials, the UK and the European Union (EU) are scheduled to sign a post-Brexit historic trade deal on Christmas Eve after negotiators agreed the deal’s draft includes a clause on fishing rights.
The negotiation groups worked at the end of December 23 to finalize the content of the agreement.
The agreement will officially complete the separation of the UK from the EU after nearly five years of the referendum in 2016.
According to a British official, the cabinet is also holding an online meeting to receive a brief announcement on the status of the negotiations.
The document still needs to be approved by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the governments of the EU member states, but officials from both sides hope to give an announcement on December 24 at the latest.
