History of the Laika breed of West Siberia

The West Siberian Laika comes from the forest region east and west of Siberia. It is the result of a cross between two Laïkas namely the Mansi and the Khanty as well as breeds from the northern Urals. This genetic work gave birth to two breeds that had their own standard. It was not until 1947 that they became a single race in its own right. Five years later, the standard is finally erected. In Russia, the West Siberian Laika is relatively well known and there are even several specialized breeding centers.
