The Yoranian: Character, Education, Health, Price | Dog Breed

A cross between the Pomeranian Loulou and Yorkshire Terrier, the Yoranian is renowned for its energetic personality and elegant, graceful appearance. Requiring a lot of affection, he likes to play a lot, which is why he will get along wonderfully with children. It is a family dog par excellence which is rather easy to live with provided it has received the proper education from an early age.

Characteristics of the Yoranian

The Yoranian is the result of a hybridization between two popular breeds namely the Yorkshire Terrier and the Pomeranian Loulou. He does not benefit from any recognition from official bodies other than the American Kennel Club. Given the absence of an official standard, it happens that the appearance of the dog is different from one subject to another. However, we see a lot of similarities with his parents. The Yoranian also nicknamed Yorkie Pom or Porkie has a small size, which is why it is perfect as a house dog, because it does not need a lot of room to evolve. He develops a relatively robust and compact body and is recognizable by his round face, black eyes, small black nose and pointy ears. It is difficult to resist such a crisp face, which explains the success of this breed, at least in Anglo-Saxon countries, because in France, it is almost unknown. In terms of the coat, it is long, soft and well trimmed. The dress can have different colors, but it is quite common to meet subjects with white, black, golden, brown, light brown or cream fur.

History of the Yoranian breed

Historically, humans have carried out hybridizations by playing on the genetics and physical attributes of dogs in an attempt to obtain experimental breeds. To date, there are over 400 dog breeds and this number is still growing. The Yoranian comes from this mixture of known races. There is no history that details its existence, but we do know that it appeared in the United States in the 90s. No breeder has so far been credited as being at the origin of this breed. Nevertheless, the goal has been to bring together the best qualities of both parents, which has been successful as the Yorkie Pom is a pleasant and endearing animal.

Necessary living conditions and behavior of the Yoranian

The Yoranian is a very affectionate animal that could spend hours cuddling its owners. He tends to want to be the center of attention, which is why it is necessary to instill in him a good education to rectify his little flaws. Having a very strong bond with his family, this dog can even develop separation anxiety if left alone for far too long. Cheerful and protective, he also quickly becomes the best friend of children over 8 years old. Be careful, the Yoranian can become jealous if other dogs come into the house.

Diet and main health problems of the Yoranian

There isn’t a lot of information that mentions the health of the Yoranian. However, to ensure longevity and well-being, it is imperative to provide it with a balanced diet and to make it practice regular physical activities.
